Miss Betty is encouraging everyone to get into a Bible study group and watch God work on your heart. Prayer is so badly needed for the times in which we live.

What we do....

Need help with finding a job, completing your GED, learning English or Spanish? Maybe charitable assistance during rough times?  MCEC is the charitable organization in Palestine that can help make a difference for those who are willing to work toward a better life.

The Multi-Cultural Educational Center (MCEC ) in Palestine has been helping the community since 1982 with Betty Nickerson as the head of the Center. You can read more about Betty and how Palestine honored her in the local newspaper.

MCEC was organized and founded by Ella Mae Smith in January 1982 under the asupices of the Henry-Smith Families Inc. , a non-profit corporation.   It is located at 1402 West Oak Street in Palestine, Texas.

We need your help to keep Ella Mae Smith's Dream alive. Please consider this charitable organization when finding the time or funds to share with those in need.

The Center operates with an elected board of directors and is a 501 C3 tax-exempt organization.  Board members represent a cross-section of concerned community citizens.  The staff, including the director, is largely volunteer.

Throughout the Center's existence, a tremendous number of individuals and families have received assistance through their programs.
